Ivan wins International Contests
The summer of 2005 was fantastic. I was in Reno, NV for the International of Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM) competition and then two weeks later traveled to beautiful Boston, MA for the Society of American Magicians (SAM) competition. Ventana Magazine stopped by the house and did an article about my career.
On a country road in Somis, a magician, his wife, and their twin babies—a boy and a girl—live in an Italian villa shaded by the branches of a pepper tree. I drive through their ornate gate and continue down a winding driveway, passing rows of lemon trees that reveal first a fountain and then the magician’s home.
They greet me at the door, the magician and his wife and I step into their world—a place where magic has served a dual purpose.

Before WWII, magicians who weren’t touring the continent with full-evening shows or jumping from town to town playing split weeks on the vaudeville circuit often developed special programs in order to play for the cream of society at top hotels across the nation.
Now Ivan Amodei, who in 2005 took first place in Close-Up Magic at both the IBM and SAM competitions, continues that tradition with a new show called Intimate Illusions, a ninety minute presentation of mystery, comedy, and magic.
